| Why "secure" an Email address?Email addresses that are posted on the Internet are freely exposed for everyone to see. It wasn't long before some profit seeking people figured out that they could go around collecting these Email addresses and selling their lists to people who would generate spam mailings. It is inefficient to collect Email addresses by hand and so programmers developed scripts to automate this collection. Today, it is possible for even high school students to download these type of scripts. So hiding Email addresses that are posted on the web helps protect that mailbox from subsequent spam.
